I miss her lips

I don't miss her fur every. freaking. where. I do miss rubbing my cold feet in the thick, warm fur of her back.

I don't miss her barking at mosquitoes six blocks away. I don't miss the stupid dog (and kid) hating neighbor behind us calling the police to report our dog barking when she wasn't barking, or even outside. Well, the days are a little too quiet.

I don't miss chasing her through the neighborhood because she opened the front door and let herself out where she wasn't supposed to be--again (as happened the evening of 3/22 when our chase ended on the highway, in front of a pick up truck going 65 mph *sob* ). I miss watching her run like the wind around the backyard with Peeto at her heels. Slowing just enough for him to catch her and bring her to the ground with just a tug at her neck fur.

I don't miss her jumping up on the bed for some loving and taking up the entire bed, pushing me off the edge. But I do miss scolding her and Peeto for wrestling on my bed and messing up all the covers.

Mostly, I miss her lips. Gently grabbing both floppy sides and watching her shake her head to make me laugh. Maybe she didn't really like me playing with her lips but she knew it made me happy so she willingly participated.

Goodbye, my sweet Zoe pup.

Losing a pet is truly like losing a member of your family. It's real hard to take. I really HOPE that there is a place like "Rainbow Bridge," where we will all be together again, without infirmity or pain, forever.
