interesting things on the side of the highway

Today was our first Zombie Prom Date Knitter's Adopt a Highway (I-94 between mile markers 84 and 86) pick up. We've never done this before. Up until about a dozen trash bags in, we suffered the delusion we might clear the whole East bound side--a 2 mile stretch--on day 1. Yeah. Not happenin'.

I have no pics because it's more than enough to juggle giant trash bags, work gloves, picker-upper thing and water without dealing with the camera too. When she finds time to blog, Holly has some pics (she's crazy like that). She shot us decorating the East bound sign with one of my hastily knit (in eye-searing, soul-sucking Red Heart) leg warmers. We were going to do the West bound sign before heading back home but we were in dire need of showers. We'll catch it on Monday.

OK, interesting things beside the highway:

black lace panties with attaching bra (wtf? good condition, no we didn't check closely)
blue plaid boxers (matted to the ground)
an expired National City Bank ATM card
Taco Bell bags...ditch the damn plastic, Taco Bell
gas station cups...dudes, that Styrofoam lasts forever--BUY A REUSABLE CUP!
tire parts and pieces...holy crap, tire parts are heavy! It's a wonder there are any cars with tires still on them
CDs...lots of them. And a couple of cassettes. Cassettes?? Damn. The world would be a better place if we all had music players with input jacks in the car stereo
beer cans, liquor bottles...drinking and driving is sooo not cool, throwing the evidence out the window makes you even more of an asshole. Stay home with yer booze and RECYCLE.
various roadkill, including the possum I accidently stood on while trying to pry a tire part out of the ground (ick)

and, if I ever need a place to stay in North East, PA, maybe they left the lights on in room 8...

Oh, and dude who yelled "Fuck you!" as you flew by in your car? We're out there doing something, making some change...what the hell are you doing?

We'll be back out there on Monday, 9:30AM.

The list of stuff you found . . . just gross! A possum, you really stepped on it? Ugh. You and the Zombie Prom Date Knitter patrol deserve much good karma!
