I should probably let Em tell you about this but...well...go see how often she actually tells about anything.
She was working on a pair of socks in class the other day. A boy watched intently as she finished the heel flaps, worked through the turn and picked up for the gussets.
"Whoa...what did you just do?" He leaned over for a closer look.
"What's that part?" pointing at the heel.
"Uh. That's the heel. You know, where your heel goes?"
"Wow, they really are socks!" He was in awe.
And so am I. A total non-knitter (muggle, as the Harlot refers to them), a teenage boy at that, *gets* the magic that is sock knitting.
How cool is that?
She should teach that boy to knit. Or at least make him some socks.

I know, it still amazes me that a sock is really just one very long piece of string. I was on the subway yesterday and a woman across the aisle screamed "IS THAT A SOCK??" When I nodded yes, she said "Wow! I will have a new appreciation for them when I buy them!" All hail the amazing sock!
Yeah, turning the heel is my favorite part of sock knitting. But that's me, known far and wide for being easily amused, but a teenaged boy????
