Abi's Poncho

Abi finally has her poncho. Thanks to Martha Stewart's release from jail poncho, it's not too far outdated.

I stayed up late last night to get the knitting done. When I put it together this morning, the neckline was too big to stay up. Crocheting around the neck was easier than trying to rip out snaggy Homespun. I was too lazy to count my stitches or figure decreases so I posted in the SM crafty forum, asking someone to pick a number between 1 and 10. "Damp" chose 8, so I decreased on the 8th stitch every other row.

Yet another reason Homespun sucks--can't use it for fringe because it comes apart (unless you knot the ends and who wants to knot all those ends??). I thought of doing the neck in a different yarn and fringing with the same yarn. All I could find was wool and none of the colors looked right. I just wanted this DONE and again, being lazy (hey, it's Monday, what can I say?), didn't want to go out.

I was almost done with the neck using Homespun when I remembered an afghan I made years ago that had teal in it. I had to search the garage to find the storage container (bottom of a whole stack of them) full of my "old" stash (acrylic and crap). Then I stretched out across another stack to get to it. I almost killed myself falling off the piles. Not to mention that I could have made it to Michaels and back in less time. Especially since I ripped out the neck and redid it.

It's done. Abi's happy. So am I.
