They're already plotting the next one

There was an accident on 131 near our exit so we were late to the concert. The kids were disappointed because they thought we'd already missed one of the other bands. Abi was sad when Single File (not bad) came out, thinking Vedera played first and she didn't get to see The Girl/Kristen May. She was thrilled when it turned out they all started late and Vedera was yet to come. He's not a big PWTs fan (just came along to hang with us) but even Dave got into Kristen May's amazing vocals.

Before the PWTs came out, Kai and Abi dragged Dave over to the merch table where Kristen was giving out sample CDs. Dave took the opportunity to play Simon Cowell, "Amazing voice, nice shirt, boring belt...don't say 'thank you' so much." Yeah, whatever.

The kids were pretty tired by the time the Plain White T's finally came on. Abi perked up enough to sing along to most of the songs. Kai joined in Our Time Now and Hey There, Delilah. She screamed between songs and we learned Kai can screech like a velociraptor.

First concerts pretty much require concert tees. They picked out the ones they wanted (note: not plain white...hey, I wore my Zombie Prom Date Knitters shirt!). They not only slept in their shirts but insisted on wearing them to school today.

March 15th, very first concert

Abi was disappointed not to get an autograph. Just before the PWTs came on, Kai was flirting a free lemonade out of a bartender while I sought some light to spin by (yes, I was spindling at a concert...why not? I had quite my own share of the audience. With the dim lighting, people stared at my hands moving but had no idea what I was doing with them. Some brave souls actually came up to ask and get a closer look. My older son labeled me the craziest person he’s ever seen at a concert. ;-) when he noticed the line in front of Kristen was shorter. He ran back to get the CD, stood in line again and snagged an autograph for Abi.

score! autographed Vedera CD

The music was awesome, the kids had a blast and I got a lot of "You're the greatest!" and "I love you sooooo much!" in between hugs. Oh, and questions from people around us about what the heck was I doing over there in the near dark--spinning yarn to knit lace with. Oooooh, very cool! :-)
