To frog or not to frog?

Remember this baby blanket? I started with eight, twelve stitch base triangles and I'm up to the sixth side triangle tier. So it's 3/4 done. And I'm about to frog the whole damn thing and start over.

Why? It's taking for freaking ever and it's getting heavier and heavier. And eating so much yarn (Cotton Tots)! Even with working on other projects, this should have been done. So why isn't it?

I just measured the beginning edge and it's forty freaking inches wide. My original plan/stitch count should have had it about thirty-two inches. Somehow, when I was fiddling around with the start and changed the stitch count for the base triangles and then changed the number of them, my math went wonky. Or it was wonky to begin with. Or I was basing my measurements off using #7 needles instead of the 8's I ended up using.

FORTY FREAKING INCHES.

If I keep going, it'll be FORTY FREAKING INCHES BY FORTY FREAKING INCHES.

That's...um...huge.

I just asked Peter to frog it and wind all the yarn for me so I can start over. He says I should just finish the tier I'm working on, do the top triangles and leave it at an approximate 30 x 40 rectangle (though I AM doing an applied i-cord edging). The thought of making my intended to be square blanket *not square* is really bothering my sense of how things should be. Aside from that, does that sound like a weird rectangle ratio?

I'm thinking he just doesn't want to wind yarn.

I think Peter is on to something.

That's a normal size for kid and baby blankets. I'd go for it. Then it's done, you don't have to start over, and it's a great size. Go for it!
