A package came for Peter yesterday. From the return address, it looks like something computer-ish. I asked him last night what it is, since he hadn't opened it. He said I'd find out on Friday. Uh, Friday is my birthday.

So I reminded him that we agreed on no birthday gifts. His was last Friday and we didn't give him anything. He didn't even get a cake because he worked late. The kids and I decided we'd do just one cake for both of us this weekend.

I walked back into the kitchen to check on dinner, muttering under my breath, "Besides, whatever's in the box isn't what I really wanted because it didn't come from a knitting or spinning store."

I didn't think he could hear me, any other time he wouldn't. "What did you want?"

Um. A ball winder? Which is what Em wants me to have too (You know what they say about using the best tools you can afford? Well, Em uses the best *I* can afford. She's never going to go far from home--and my tools/stash, is she?). Because, now that we're making yarn, we have to wind it...a lot. But not either of the ones at joann.com because they have bad reviews. The one at knitpicks.com looks good.

A few minutes later, I hear him down at his computer. "FORTY TWO DOLLARS!?!"

Yeah, good tools aren't cheap. And that's actually a good deal. I could have asked for this electric ball winder ($250 + shipping) or this wood jumbo ball winder.

I don't know if he ordered it or not. I suggested it could wait for Christmas. So could whatever's in the box, actually.

I didn't mention the 50% off one item joann.com coupon I used a couple days ago for this.

What a great deal on the swift.

It sounds like you have a man who is right on the ball regarding gifts!

If he didn't order it, since it appears he got you computer parts, you could get *him* the ball winder. ;-)

Typically man...if it doesn't plug into something, require gasoline or involve sports it can't be worth $42 dollars...order it and buy it for yourself!! Hmphf!!

the ball winder on the knitpicks site is the same one as in the black and white pic on the joann's site. I bought the one in the b&w joann.com pic, and it's the exact one in the knitpics pic. I love it, now I just need to convince DH to buy me a swift.
