I am frustrated beyond belief with these damn socks. I cast on 72 stitches and they seemed too big. I started over on 64 (this is not so simple as just casting on--I am carefully and anally matching up the colors each and every time...these WILL be identical socks! They will, dammit.) and the cast on was too tight. I cast on with larger needles and then switched back to #1 (Inox Express). Too small.
And too plain. I like the colorway (Opal Dreamcatcher 1231) all together. But not so much all the yellow. Or the weird blue over yellow green. It needs something. Starting over--again--with this pattern, returning to the original 72 stitch cast on. And now those 72 stitches that were too loose originally are too tight? This yarn doesn't seem to have much stretch. Plus, the extra 6 stitches, scattered by twos between the 15 stitch repeats, totally wash out the pattern.
One. More. Time. I'm going to try adding an entire 15 stitch repeat to each side. If this doesn't work, I'm moving on to something else. Grrr.

Sometimes you have to just walk away for awhile. Sorry you're having troubles :(
See my Feb post regarding Olympic defeat if you want to feel better about your sock situation. They do look amazing though!
