Peter (my husband, for those who don't know) is in Mexico for two weeks on business. I miss him dearly. No one brought me cappuccino and bagels in bed this weekend (seriously, he does this...aren't I a lucky bitch?).
Anyway, he called last night to ask me what to do for his sunburn. They took a break from the grind and spent the day at the Pyramids of the Sun and the Moon. I spent the day, with too damn many kids, in Michigan. Where it is cold and gray and there is decidedly no risk of sunburn. Ugh. He didn't think of sunblock. He never does. But he was thinking of me...
After the pyramids, they went into Mexico City. Where they visited a market and he found what sounds like a lovely hand-knit wool sweater for our daughter, who's 15th birthday he missed on January 4. The sweater being hand-knit made him think there must be yarn to be had. He knows I dearly love yarn, maybe more than I love him. You know. Sometimes.
So, he looked for yarn. But he didn't find any. Except for the yarn some women were using to knit sweaters and things to sell at the market. As he doesn't speak Spanish fluently, he asked his coworker to translate that he wished to purchase yarn from the knitters. Huh? What? No, we're knitting with this yarn. But my wife knits and she would love the yarn. I will pay you the value of what you might knit from the yarn...for just the yarn. No knitting. They laughed at the crazy man and would not part with their yarn.

Awwwww. That's so cute! At least he tried. Hmmm. I'm betting there's a yarn shop around somewhere (or something like a shop). That might take more time than he has, though.
I like the look! It's easier on my ever-aging eyes. I've got an appointment with the eye doc on Thursday.
Are you going tomorrow night? I'm planning on being there. I don't know how you're surviving, but I'd bet you need a break. A break with good coffee and yummy yarn is probably exactly what the doctor would order. ;-)
lol about the women, you know you'd probably laugh in their spot too, right? lol Your husband sounds like a good guy.
If he was a truly loving husband, he'd have bought a couple of matching sweaters and not said a word when you ripped them out to use the yarn for something else....
