A Christmas "Well, shoot. Now what?"

While looking through Socks, Socks, Socks, I showed Peter some really cool black socks with clock faces on them (pg 92). We have a thing about time (he collects watches, I collect mini clocks) and I thought he'd think them as cool as I did. He didn't. "I don't like patterned socks," he says.

Hello? Some of his favorite socks are the ones with muted Mickey Mouse patterns that I gave him our first Christmas. He's always asking where I got them since he needs new ones. I'm pretty sure it was Walmart, since that was the only store in the boonies we called "home" at the time. I've never seen them, at Walmart or anywhere else, since. ("since" seems to be the word-of-the-day)

So. Anyway. I intended the accidental MAN socks as a Christmas gift for him. The first is made exactly to his foot. But. Those stripes and such...that's a pattern, isn't it?

Now what?

Hmmm. I think there's enough stretch in the fabric for my son, of the bigfoot clogs, to be able to wear them. And HE wanted patterned socks. I planned to make him some with a little more character. I think he'd be happy just to have some Mom-made socks.

Now, back to Peter. What about that dark blue wool on the right (2nd and 3rd balls from the top) in my wool sock yarn stash pic? It's got a minimal slightly lighter blue random pattern. Ah, I found a pic. That's not really a pattern, right? If it is, then I have to order some more sock yarn. Oooooh...sock...yarn.

NO! NO MORE SOCK YARN.

The stash yarn will be fine, if boring to knit. Maybe I'll work some teeny cables in there?
