The walk is in less than 3 weeks. I've been training--walked 8.3 and 11 miles last week--but not as much as last year. Something else different this year is my weight. I've lost 54 lbs. since May 19. As difficult as last year's walk was for me physically, I knew there was no way in hell I could do it again without being in better shape. I hope to be another 6-7 lbs lighter still.
My fund-raising efforts haven't been as successful as last year. I'm still a little over $300 short of my minimum to walk. I've self-pledged the balance so the shortage won't keep me from walking. I really need to raise the rest though, too many expenses for me to self-donate that much.
Visit my donation page to see how I'm doing.
My sock-selling idea never came to fruition. I was afraid my arthritis would interfere with my knitting and it has. I just can't knit for extended periods, especially with smaller needles. I've promised pink ribbon socks to some current and former Strollers and know they will be patient as I get them knitted and shipped over the winter.
This first pair is going to my stepmom, Barbara, a survivor of breast cancer and major motivation for my walking. Sadly, my former mother-in-law, grandmother of my two older children, was diagnosed this year as well. Breast cancer sucks.
